Ceramic Pickle Jar

Description

When the Turks arrived in India to conquer it in the fourteenth century, this genuine art can be traced back to Turko-Persian origins. Initially, tiles for masjids, palaces, and tombs throughout Asia were made from blue earthenware. When the Mughals arrived, this art exploded throughout India. India’s introduction of blue pottery can be attributed to Sawai Ram Singh II, who ordered his craftsmen and artisans to study the technique after being fascinated by it.

A traditional craft from the city of Jaipur is blue pottery. Ground feldspar combined with gum or starch is used to create blue ceramics. It can be used with the hand and is referred to locally as kamchini.
